Music and Movement "Mama I want to Sing": Students will explore the elements of storytelling incorporated with musical theatre, dance and scene study. Emphasis will be placed on character examination and expression with final culminating performance at the end. 
Session 1 – Tuesdays 3:30- 4:45 pm
Session 2 – Thursdays 3:30- 4:45 pm

Poets in Motion "Shel Silverstein": Using the tools of the actor-voice, expression and imagination students will explore the work of Shel Silverstein. Students will develop characters, become aware of sensory and spatial awareness related to selected poems with culminating final performance at the end.  
Session 1 – Tuesdays 5:15 - 6:45 pm
Session 2 – Thursdays 5:15 - 6:45 pm

Storytelling with Aesop's Fables: Students will learn to how to narrate and embody the traits of the story's characters taking the audience on a wild journey. Students will be encouraged to develop their writing skills as well coming away with their own fascinating story to tell.
Session 1 – Wednesdays 3:30- 4:45 pm
Session 2 – Tuesdays 3:30- 4:45 pm

Improv for the Actor- “Be Quick!”: This class will teach students the essence of staying in the moment, risk taking, teamwork and confidence. Students will learn the techniques of those like Uta Hagen, Stanislavski and Meisner and use them to "act on the spot." This class will also utilize aspects of film.

Books Alive "The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales": Students will become the writers, directors and actors they have always wanted to be by spoofing classic tales. Students will learn the basic elements of script writing and make their adaptation come alive on set.
Session 1 – Thursdays 3:30 – 4:45 pm
Session 2 – Wednesdays 3:30- 4:45 pm

Scene Study Acting Potpourri: Students will work on monologues and scenes from various genres. Students will learn to develop a critical eye employing the techniques of Uta Hagen, Stanislavski and other acting greats.

Instructor: Michelle Boykin

Michelle BroykinMichelle Boykin  - A former Educator for the Compton Unified School District in Southern California, Michelle Boykin has not only a passion for acting, but for teaching the tools of the actor to others. She began her acting career in Los Angeles as a member of Acting Now. Under the direction of Playwright and Hollywood writer, Mark E. Swinton, Michelle has been in original works such as: “A Balm in Africa”, “A Whisper in the Wind” and known works such as “Dreamgirls.”

After touring with “You Don’t Know Me”- an urban hip hop musical about the fallacies of today’s educational system, Michelle began working for TellTale Theatre located in Marietta. Under the direction of John Schmedes, Michelle works as the Company Manager for their environmental show “Fresh Air” and as the Associate Artistic Director for “What A Character” and “Hans On!” Besides acting, Michelle headed a Language and Literacy Program incorporating Theatre as a part of Omosaze’s Reading Saturday Program. Michelle also teaches spoken word and has been featured as a Spoken Word artist in her native Los Angeles.

During the summers Michelle teaches Improvisation to High School Students for the Cobb County Public Library System and theatre camps for all ages.
