Fine Arts Classes at Theatre On Main

One 2-hour class per week. Multi-age classes, minimum age 8.

Drawing: In this course you will learn about papers, all types of pencils and drawing instruments, shading and shading techniques, layout and composition, subject study and light source. At the end of the 8-week course you will have several finished pieces suitable for framing. Also, your pieces will be on display and entered into the Theatre On Main Juried Art Show.

Watercolor: This course will teach you about color theory, mixing colors, applying washes, a large variety of watercolor techniques, composition and layout, subject study, brushes, paper and much more. At the end of the 8-week course you will have several finished pieces suitable for framing. Your pieces will be on display and entered into the Theatre On Main Juried Art Show.

Calligraphy: You will learn about letter styles, inks, nibs, pens, papers, techniques, composition and layout and much more. This course will take you from start to finish with exceptional results. You will be able to create your own envelopes, letterhead, place cards, monograms, initials, certificates, etc. There will be projects that will be done in class during the last two classes.

Painting: This course will go though the process from sketching a subject to rendering the subject with watercolors, acrylics and pen & ink with the occasional ink wash. This class is for the person that wants to learn it all. At the end of the 8 weeks, you will have one finished piece in each medium (pencil, watercolor, acrylics, pen & ink) suitable for framing. However, before your pieces are taken home, they will be on display at the theatre and entered into the Theatre On Main Juried Art Show.

With completed registration, you will be given a list of supplied needed for the class. These supplies can be found easily at an art store and will be kept as inexpensive as possible.
